Melvin Alexander

Research Statistician, National Study Center for Trauma and Emergency Medical Systems

Melvin Alexander is a Research Statistician at the National Study Center for Trauma and Emergency Medical Systems in Baltimore. There, he provides statistical support to medical researchers, clinicians and epidemiologists developing treatment therapies for trauma patients with spinal cord, brain and motor-vehicle-crash injuries. He has more than 26 years of experience consulting in the electronics manufacturing, education, information technology, biotechnology, pharmaceutical and healthcare industries. He earned a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from North Carolina Agricultural and Technical (A&T) State University and a master’s degree in biostatistics from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He is a member of the American Statistical Association (ASA), a Fellow, Certified Quality Engineer, and past chairman of the Health Care Division of the American Society for Quality (ASQ). He has used JMP software since 1992 and has presented numerous papers on SAS and JMP statistical, quality, and Six Sigma applications at local, regional and international SAS users groups, as well as at ASA and ASQ conferences.
