Statistical FAQs

Can I test if my data are coming from the "XYZ" distribution?

Version 4 and higher: Yes. In the Distribution platform, choose Fit Distribution from the title bar pulldown menu and choose from the following distributions: Normal, LogNormal, Weibull, Weibull with Threshold, Extreme Value, Exponential, Gamma, or Beta. Once the Fitted Distribution table is presented, choose Goodness of Fit from the pulldown menu.

Note: JMP 6 offers Poisson and Binomial distributions as well.

Version 3: Only for the Normal distribution. To get the test, go through the Distribution of Yplatform. Click on Test Dist is Normal from the pop-up menu beside the column's reveal button.
