JMP FLash Profiler
Introduction
The Flash implementation of the JMP Profiler displays two-dimensional views of an n-dimensional response surface. These cross-sectional views enable you to explore the model space by changing one X factor at a time and examining the effect on the predicted response.
Parts of the Application

At the top left, the menu button displays actions you can take in this application.
At the top right is the Help link, which brings you to this document. At the bottom left is an icon that links to the jmp.com web site.
The profiler displays a two-dimensional grid of graphs. Dependent variables (responses) are on vertical (Y) axes.Independent variables (factors) are on horizontal (X) axes.
Each graph displays a curve, or profile trace, that is the predicted response as one factor is changed while others are held constant.
Vertical dashed lines show the current values of each X factor. Adjusting any X factor changes the predicted responses in all other graphs.
Horizontal dashed lines show the current predicted values of each Y response for the current values of the X factors.
General Features
To change an X value, simply click in the graph. The x-value changes to reflect where you clicked.

Select an object, and then choose an action from the main menu. For example, to change an axis to use a log scale, click to select the axis. Then choose Log Scale.

Selecting and Resizing
To select an object, click on its edge, or on its title if it has one. For example, clicking on an axis title selects the axis. Clicking on the edge of a graph selects the graph.
When you select an axis, a graph, or the entire application, resize handles appear. Drag these handles to change size.

To enlarge the profiler and its elements, use the resize handles. For example, to see a larger font, click on the application title or on its edge, then drag the resize handles to increase the application size.
To select multiple objects, hold down the Shift or Control key while you click. This enables you, for example, to select several axes and apply log scales to all of them.
The Menu Button
Commands are displayed when you click on the menu button.

To use the menu, select an object, then choose a command. If no objects are selected, the chosen action applies to all objects.
Reset
The Reset command restores objects to their original state when the profiler was launched. This is useful, for example, in resetting axes that have been adjusted during exploration.
Print To...
Printing always applies to the entire application, so it does not matter whether objects are selected. Choose the Print To command to print the profiler.
Context Menu
For convenience, actions for each type of object are also listed in the Context Menu for those objects. Right-click on an object to select the object and display the context menu.

At the bottom of the Context Menu appear several actions provided by theAdobe Flash Player. These actions are documented on the Adobe website.They include Flash Player settings, which rarely need to be changed.
Profiler Features
The Flash implementation of the JMP Profiler supports the following features.
Adjust X Value
To change an X value, click in the graph or dragthe slider.The vertical reference line moves to the new location.The horizontal reference line moves to show the current predicted response value.

Edit X Value
Click on the red X factor value to edit the current value. Press the Enter or Tab key to confirm your change. If you enter a value outside the valid range, it is ignored.

Lock X Factor
Choose the Lock Factor command to lock an X factor. Locked factors are displayed with solid vertical reference lines instead of dashed lines. A locked factor no longer changes in response to changes in other factors. In most models, this does not apply. It is only important in a constrained model. For example, a mixture model is often constrained so that the sum of the factors equals 100%. If your model is not constrained, the Lock Factor command does not appear.
Axis Features
Panning and Zooming
To zoom, or stretch an axis (thereby altering its range) drag near the maximum or minimum of the axis. To pan, or shift the center of an axis, drag near the midpoint of the axis.

Log Scale
The Log Scale command applies a log scale to a continuous axis. Select the command again to revert to a linear axis.
